Wrinkle resistant shirts maintain superior feel and breathability of untreated fibers but they require ironing or steaming after drying. As wrinkle resistant fabrics are treated to keep wrinkles at bay but can not resist the wrinkling process during wash cycles. Since the last decade, wrinkle resistant and non iron shirts have become a controversial debate due to the convenience they have offered at the expense of the toxic chemicals used to create them.

Non iron treatment is applied by completely immersing the sewn shirt into a chemical mixture bath. The resin inside the soaking tubs contains cross-linking properties which bonds and stiffens up the fabric fibers of to deliver resistance against water molecules, which allows a superior shield against wrinkles and enables iron-free usage normally up to washes.

Wrinkle-resistant shirts also go through a chemical process which is applied to the shirt fabric during the finishing phase at the fabric mill. This treatment is mostly applied to cotton fabrics as they are susceptible to wrinkles due to their cellulose structure. The result is superior hand feel, luster and breathability in addition to wrinkle resistant finish.

Wrinkle-resistant dress shirts are silkier and breathable compared to non-iron. All the non-iron shirts become a tad tougher in feel and texture after their chemical treatment. Wrinkle-resistant shirts need a quick iron or steam before wearing them while no-iron shirts are good to go anytime with enduring wash-and-wear capacity against creases.

The environmental effects weigh the same in both wrinkle-resistant vs non-iron dress shirts. An identical chemical formula is applied in the processing methods of both variants. The formaldehyde substances in a resin employed for wrinkle-free treatment expose human skin to a condition called dermatitis, itchiness, and rashes when rubbed with the skin.

In a factory, it exposes workers with improper gadgets to skin diseases and cancers sometimes. As a precaution, we wash all non-iron dress shirts thoroughly before you wear them for the first time.

Post-stitch washing completely disinfects the remaining substances from the garment that could be harmful to human skin. A non-iron shirt is immersed in chemicals for a long time to allow strong molecular bonds and lasting memory against crimping.

There are some alternative terms to wrinkle resistant used in the marketplace today. They include wash and wear, no-iron, durable press, permanent press and easy care, but they call basically mean the same thing.
