How long is killing lincoln audio

I thought I knew a lot about history but I learned something at almost every turn of the story! How does this one compare? But I will now. If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be? The rest of the story. Bill did a great job of reading this! Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why? Yes and I have. For history fans it is seldom we get an accurate book that reads like a novel.

There are some points of conjecture, rather than detract, they make the book better. Who was your favorite character and why? Not applicable, rather, the character development of the historical figures was extremely well done. I learned something about each of them I did not know before.

You thought you knew John Wilkes Booth? Audible should figure out how to make the pictures from texts and non-fiction available to its listeners. Day to day events. Capture of the assassins. Timeline of Terror. Want to read more about Lincoln now. Don't get me wrong. I love Bill O'Reilly as a comentator, but as the narrator of this book, he is a poor choice. Listening to him is like listening to his broadcasts: strident declarative sentences, sardonic tone, and inappropriate inflections.

His narrative voice has a sharp edge that in my opinion detracted from the storytelling. It's a war story -- that word came up a LOT! In short, Bill should stick to broadcasting. This story was introduced in the prologue as a thriller, but I really didn't find it thrilling at all. Interesting, yes, but nowhere near what it has been built up to be. This was not the best choice I've made at Audible. And I won't try "Killing Kennedy" because of my disappointment with this book.

Although reasonably well written, there was nothing new or unique about the President, his assination, or events surrounding it. He included a lot of "filler" in the form of details of the final battles and events surrounding Lee's capitulation.

O'Reilly narrated. Although he reads well, his mispronunciation of technical words was annoying. Most annoying was saying calvary when he should have said, cavalry. He's paid way to much to not know the difference. What do you think your next listen will be? Miracle in the Andes. Pleasant, well-modulated, appealing. What character would you cut from Killing Lincoln? The somewhat irrelevant details of the ending of the civil war.

Many authors make the mistake of thinking they are good narrators. O'Reilly is one of those. Surprisingly Bill O'Reilly's enthusiasm for his text. One got a sense of tragedy for all the characters that were involved in this extremely brutal and messy affair. Difficult to envisage the brutality of the world at this time without such biographies or to understand the primitive nature of both politics and medicine. These conspiracies continue but one really hopes we have more consideration for mankind which involves both the good and the bad in this a story.

Then there was Kennedy. They did a better detective job with Lincoln's Assassination than his. The moment of assassination and the wind up of what happened to everyone. What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Maybe a bit journalistic but despite this he kept me enthralled by the evolving story - as a BRIT in NZ - much of which I did not know. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? If only No, a great read. Worth every cent penny! My first audible book. His ability to emphasize with emotion and yet narrate the truth. Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Teach me more history Bill! What made the experience of listening to Killing Lincoln the most enjoyable? The author did a wonderful job at drawing me into the sights, sounds and even the smells of these historic American days. What did you like best about this story? It was told in way that made it unforgettable. Which character — as performed by Bill O'Reilly — was your favorite? Hard to choose. Probably Abraham Lincoln. For the most part, yes. I would love to hear more historical accounts told with this quality of story-telling artistry!

An extremely entertaining telling of the conspiracy to kill President Lincoln. The information presented about prior attempts to capture or kill Linclon and the possibility of a conspiracy within the government was very enlightening.

Fifty thousand men and women stand in pouring rain and ankle-deep mud to watch Abraham Lincoln take the oath of office to begin his second term. So when Lincoln steps up to the podium and delivers an eloquent appeal for reunification, the spiritual message of his second inaugural address is all the more uplifting. Suddenly, the sun bursts through the clouds as he speaks, its light enveloping the tall and outwardly serene Lincoln.

But miles away in the Virginia railroad junction of Petersburg, any thought of serenity is a fantasy. The Confederate army, under the command of General Robert E. Lee, has been pinned inside the city for more than days by Union forces under the command of General Ulysses S. Instead, Lee is making plans to slip out of Petersburg and escape south to the Carolinas. Booth, twenty-six, raised in Maryland, is an exceptional young man.

Blessed with a rakish smile and a debonair gaze, he is handsome, brilliant, witty, charismatic, tender, and able to bed almost any woman he wants—and he has bedded quite a few. Lucy Hale and John Wilkes Booth are a beautiful young couple quite used to the adoration of high society and the opposite sex.

Yet not even she knows that Booth is a Confederate sympathizer, one who nurses a pathological hatred for Lincoln and the North. Lucy has no idea that her lover has assembled a crack team of conspirators to help him bring down the president. They have guns, financing, and a precise plan. At this point, patience is their watchword. Standing in the cold Washington drizzle in the shadow of the Capitol dome, Booth feels nothing but hot rage and injustice. The actor is impulsive and prone to the melodramatic.

Though he had no gun or knife, Booth lunged at Lincoln. Booth struggles, which only made Officer John William Westfall grasp him tighter. Arresting a celebrity like Booth might have caused the policeman problems. But Booth is definitely not finished. The grace and poetry of the words ignite his rage. The sight of so many black faces beaming up at Lincoln from the crowd makes him want to vomit.

No, Booth is most definitely not finished. The president has epic plans for his second term in office. It will take every one of those four years, and maybe longer, to heal the war-torn nation. Nothing must stand in his way. But evil knows no boundaries. And it is a most powerful evil that is now bearing down on Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln he prefers to go by just his last name.

The night air smells of the early spring, damp with a hint of floral fragrance. Yet Lincoln strides purposefully back and forth, unprotected and unafraid, as vulnerable as a man can be to sniper fire, the bombardment serving as the perfect distraction from his considerable worries.
