Adult Written by ThoughtfulSis June 16, Story is great for kids, but the subliminal messages are NOT While Bob is a great guy, the rest of the movie is laced with subtle grown up advertising, including mentions of PlayBoy and Match.
Like many new Disney films this movie is commercial central. I was unimpressed by the level of sexualization of the little boy, Ian.
Instead of playing up Ian's clearly intellectual stamina, which it seemed to mock, the character was changed to be more sexually attractive and less 'geeky'. This title contains: Sexy stuff. Positive role models. This review Parent of a 6-year-old Written by sdknagjkljf September 1, The perfect family movie!!!
Jakie Chan was a big hit in this movie!!! I absolutly loved him!!! Positive Messages. Had useful details. Parent of a 8 and year-old Written by Plumeria Rose May 29, A funny action-packed movie with no gore and lots of laughs Our family very much enjoyed the movie.
We were laughing the whole time. Why our family liked it and others did not, I have no clue. But maybe, it could be that we had low expectations and that my husband and I are big fans of the old "Get Smart" series and perhaps that my husband enjoyed watching marital art movies when he was a kid.
So both he and I loved it for those reasons. At first, I quickly complained about the acting, but DH said to look at it as a spoof on James Bond movies.
Then, it made more sense. Yes, some of the acting could have been better but then it would not have been a spoof on the traditional "Spy vs.
Russian" theme. Spoofing utilizes stereotyping -and that is my only complaint of this movie- of Russsian spies with heavy accents. It was action packed filled with spy gadgets and technology and the violence comprised of run-of-the-mill martial art kicking, hitting, throwing, etc. Our kids have not watched violent movies and they do not like them. There are a couple of sexual innuendos that I missed myself, and our kids had no clue.
If you are looking for it, you'll find it, but if that's not a tense subject within your family, it goes right over the kids heads. I liked the fact that it depicted a mixed-race relationship. I also liked that the children turned from "not liking" Bob to "liking" him; and that Bob was a compassionate male figure for all 3 children helping them overcome bullying, and feeling part of a family.
What types of music are used? Leaving the martial arts effects to the animators, Jackie Chan lends his voice to a character in Kung Fu Panda. Madeline Carroll plays the daughter of a man who finds the fate of the presidential election resting on his shoulders in Swing Vote.
